If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. 1 John 1:6
When my soul does not long for times of rich fellowship with God in prayer and His Word, I need revival.
Was there ever a place in your life that you couldn’t wait to go? I remember it being that way with going to my grandparents’ house when I was young. My grandparents didn’t live close to us, so, at the most we only got to see them once or twice a year. Naturally, when we found out we were going to visit, we became ecstatic. The long days leading up to our departure date seemed to last weeks in themselves. We loved visiting our grandparents because we enjoyed being around them – mostly because they spoiled us, and it seems we never got in trouble.
Can you remember the last time you approached your relationship with God in the same way? Has your relationship with God ever been that way? Bear with me through a few more tough questions. When is the last time you really read and studied the Bible to get something from it? When is the last time you spent more than a couple minutes in prayer? Have you ever studied the Bible or spent a few minutes in prayer? I assume you want to know where God wants you to go to college, who God wants you to marry, and what His will is for your life. Don’t expect God to lead and guide you in your life if you are not even communicating with Him on a regular basis. God’s ways are certainly higher than ours, but would anything make you want to help and bless someone who never spoke a word to you?
Many Christians who attend church every week and consider themselves good Christians live their lives completely out of God’s will. It may not even be that they made a deliberate decision to avoid God’s will. This happens because they have no personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They have learned to play the game of Christianity, but when it’s all said and done, their life is completely hollow. Pretending to read the Bible, faking prayer, and living out a false impersonation of a Christian life is living a lie, and it is wicked. When your prayer life and Bible reading become a formality rather than a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ, then you need revival.
Christianity has lost too many people to the world because they are living as pseudo-Christians. Determine that you will not be one of them and that you will again see your relationship with Jesus go from the mundane to the dynamic.
